Hello everyone,
I'm frequently seeing errors in the logs upon VE start and during a
heavy I/O (cp /something /somwhere on HN) I had a lockup and kernel
panic but did not have a serial console attached to catch the panic
message sorry.

Is this a bug? I found http://bugzilla.openvz.org/show_bug.cgi?id=470
with similar problem but it says the bug is fixed(?)

the errors look like this:
> Jul 6 02:20:09 server01 kernel: lockd_down: no lockd running.
> Jul 6 02:20:11 server01 kernel: VE: 104: stopped

using debian etch with packages from systs.org - are the CentOS kernels more stable?

Thanks,

What shows 'cat /proc/sys/kernel/ve_allow_kthreads' ?

Stuart,

it looks like you are using NFS inside VE,
so kthreads should be allowed via:
# echo 1 > /proc/sys/kernel/ve_allow_kthreads

and these call traces will go away.

If you experience a lockup again, please press Alt-SysRq-P multiple times
and Alt-SysRq-T and provide the output
(it can be collected e.g. via net or serial console)

Thanks,
Kirill
