Hey vz friends,

The Virtuozzo docs describe the use of almaconvert8 pretty clearly overall: https://docs.virtuozzo.com/virtuozzo_hybrid_server_7_users_g uide/advanced-tasks/converting-containers-with-almaconvert8. html

However the --elevate switch states only "Call the elevate upgrade scripts and wait for them to complete." and a note at the bottom specifies:

"The --elevate option is an experimental feature for third-party scripts and is optional. Use it only when you have a complete understanding of the way this option is used."

However I haven't found any documentation describing 'the way this option is used'.

Do you use that option only after a conversion? Do you use it *with* your conversion? Do the elevate scripts help with converting control panel data (like Plesk or cPanel, which are known to be compatible with elevate, but not specifically almaconvert8)

Any additional info on how the --elevate switch is to be utilized would be handy, thanks!

I'm also curious as to why cpanel is supported, but Plesk isn't. When attempting to run almaconvert8 on a Plesk server the result is:

Conversion aborted: Software unsupported by AlmaLinux 8 detected: Plesk
Please contact the software vendor and request AlmaLinux 8 support

And yet, Plesk does support AlmaLinux 8: https://support.plesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/12377014593303-D oes-Plesk-support-AlmaLinux-as-an-alternative-to-CentOS-8-

Plesk also has a script to handle this here: https://github.com/plesk/centos2alma
