I am quite new to OpenVZ and when I should do some maintenance on a server I thought it was some hardware virtualization, but it was OpenVZ (That I know nothing about.)

I ca see that there is a Centos 6 host systems and a couple of Centos and Debian "guests" or "contaniners" or what you will call them.

If I should make update on the "host system" and the clients, should I do "yum update" or "apt-get update" on hosts and guests, or is there "something special" (And different from hardware virtualization.)??

Ad what about the firewall contained in the Linux kernel. Should the netfilter firewall be configured via iptables on the host systemm only, or at the host system and the "clients".

(Does they really share the same kernel, or is a "instance" or a "copy" of the same kernel ...????

I might like OpenVZ a lot when I understand it, but just now I do not.
