Hi,

Trying to figure out why Ploop fails to run properly on Proxmox (Debian based).

Installed version 1.9 of ploop and ploop-lib using alien from the RPM packages.

# uname -a
Linux openvz 2.6.32-24-pve #1 SMP Fri Sep 13 07:29:30 CEST 2013 x86_64 GNU/Linux

# lsmod |grep ploop

ploop 112977 4 pfmt_ploop1,pfmt_raw,pio_direct,pio_nfs

# ploop init -s 10M -t ext4 /mnt/test.img

Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply dr4g0nl0rd.

I'm well aware that Proxmox doesn't support Ploop. However, since Proxmox uses OpenVZ kernel, kernel part is already there as you could see from my initial post. I should still be able to create Ploop image at least.

Any other suggestions?

It was "data=journal" on the ext4 mount option that was causing this error. Changing it to "data=ordered" works.

Can Ploop work without the use of O_DIRECT, so I can use data=journal again?
