Hi OpenVZ Community
Today I was playing a bit with the new ploop feature, or at least I wanted to give it a try - but I didn't get that far.
I'm running a Debian Squeeze System and followed the steps here: wiki.openvz.org/Install_kernel_from_RPM_on_Debian_6.0 to install all needed packages.
Note: You should list ploop-lib too as a requirement!
I've tested with latest stable and testing kernel.
What's the problem?
using vzctl convert or vzctl create --template ploop doesn't work as it complaints about missing ploop support in kernel.
I tried modprobe and added ploop and pfmt_ploop1 to /etc/modules but I can't get it to work.
I am not sure if it is really a problem of the module not beeing loaded or just that vzctl doesn't recognize it, as using "ploop" directly as a command seems to work.
Does anyone have any hints for me?
Thank you very much!
//edit: System Information
Debian 6.0.5 64-bit
vzctl 3.3
kernel: 2.6.32-042stab061.9

OK it seems like I found the "answer".
I upgraded to vzctl v4.0. Because of this I had to install libcgroup1 (or something similar) and vzctl was able to recognize ploop.
However, ploop creation failed and I also had to install parted.
Now, everything seems to work
