Hi,

A general question here.
From what I understand, any process in a container has its own view of the system. Suppose, On the main system, I have a process executing as root that provides me some functionality. Call this FP. Normally, processes make use of FP thru an IPC mechanism.

When inside a container, I still need the services provided by FP.
How can this be handled with OpenVZ?

Or am I totally missing the point here?

The openvz design and purpose work against you in this case. Perhaps someone will correct me, but I don't think you'll be able to achieve any kind of standard IPC communication between the HN and a VM, due to VM isolation.
