Hello,

we are migrating from OpenVZ 6 to OpenVZ 7

But we see, that vzmigrate command does not provide functionality to change the VEID.

Are there any workarounds?

Thank you

For example migrate with the original VEID to OpenVZ 7 and change the ID on the destination node using vzmlocal.

If your problem is solved - please, report it!
It's even more important than reporting the problem itself...

Hello,
thank you for the IDEA!

Since my Container ID's are in use on the destination node, I will probably free them up on the OpenVZ 7 using vzmlocal.
and then migrate from when VEIDs are not in use anymore.

I will try later and report but the results. thank you

So I tried to free UP the VEID 105 on the destination node.

I run:
vzmigrate --ssh='-p2222' --remove-area no --dry-run 46.1.2.3 105
And get this:

Locked CT 105
Checking migration of CT 105 to 46.1.2.3
Error: OpenVZ is not running on the target machine
Error: Can't continue migration

I am migrating from OpenVZ 6 to 7, there should be no issues with that?
I don't run any firewalls on destination node.

I have also copied the public key to the destination node..
If I do:
ssh -p2222 root@46.1.2.3 - I get access to the root shell without a password.

Any ideas on this?

I don't believe you can use vzmigrate to migrate from OpenVZ Legacy to OpenVZ 7. You need to use ovztransfer which you can find in the OpenVZ Legacy GIT repo here:

https://src.openvz.org/projects/OVZL/repos/ovztransfer/brows e/ovztransfer.sh

Hello,

thank you for a suggestion, yesterday I was searching for like 2 hours and did not find anything similar...

So I just tried transfering two containers, and got similar error on both transfers:

# bash ovztransfer.sh DESTINATION_IP 103:108
Checking target host parameters...
Migration of Container 103 started
Container 103: Shutting down all possible services...
vzquota : (error) Quota accounting is off
Container 103: Copying data...
ovztransfer.sh: line 30: 392458 Terminated vzctl exec $veid "mount -o bind / $tmpdir; tail -f /dev/null > $tmpdir/tmp/lock" > /dev/null 2>&1
392372: Failed to copy Container config file
Migraton of Container 103 failed with error 1
All done
Stopping all migration processes...

Container 103: Copying data... - this process is copying files, and it ok, some problem is with this mount thing :/

Thank you

You might verify that your container doesn't conflict with the known issues from the release notes:
https://docs.openvz.org/openvz_readme.webhelp/_known_issues_ and_restrictions.html

Hello

I saw that later, down the line the is an SCP command, but since I used -p2222 in the SSH_OPTS, in SCP there should be -P2222.. so I just changed new node ssh port to 22 temporary...
now I see similar error: 405554 Terminated vzctl exec $veid "mount -o bind / $tmpdir; tail -f /dev/null > $tmpdir/tmp/lock" > /dev/null 2

but transfer does not stop and it finishes and containers work after starting them!

thank you
