We just created vzdup.
vzdup is a utility to make consistent snapshots of OpenVZ containers. It basically creates an encrypted duplicity archive of the container's private area and configuration files and transfers the archive to an ssh destination. Backups can be restored with vzduprestore.
We created vzdup for our own use, but wanted to share the GPL code with the community. It probably contains a lot of bugs, but we welcome everybody to try it and also to improve it  vzdup has been tested only on CentOS.
The code is basically a quick hack of vzdump 1.2-13.
