Hi,
I have an OpenVZ Machine with Debian lenny - running over 10000 kilometers away. For that reason I will avoid rebooting the machine if it is possible for any reason.
Now there is again an issue with Linux: http://lkml.org/lkml/2009/10/16/146
ALTHOUGH I use the official Debian kernel, I can't get the proposed fix (http://wiki.debian.org/mmap_min_addr) working:
# sysctl -w vm.mmap_min_addr="4096"
error: "vm.mmap_min_addr" is an unknown key
#
I am afraid the Debian packagers forgot to set that option in the OpenVZ kernel - or maybe OpenVZ even does not have that value? Does anybody know?
However, my big big question is: Is there any chance to not need to reboot the machine? Maybe anybody knows details about that?
Even if it is applicable to the OpenVZ kernel ... can only be one VE exploited or also the hardware node and therefore all other VEs??
(There are critical VEs with no access from the internet and the hardware node does not have any services running. However there are two VEs with provide services to the internet).
Thank you very much!
