Hello,

I use the vanilla 2.6.27 and the official openvz patch + aufs2 + squashfs (but I do not think the extra patch is causing problems).

* Compiled on Ubuntu hardy system using gcc 4.2.4-1ubuntu4
* Use the openvz config as based config, add some modules and change the stack size from 4k to 8k (tested with 4k as well, same symptom)
* Kernel boot and works witout problem on a epc 900, and a asus laptop AMD Mobile sempron CPU, on a vmware on AMD dual core 64 bit (in 32 bit system).

* tested by using kernel option
- lapic no change
- acpi=off no change
- pci=nomsi no change

Symtom: As the subject noted, after it prints 'SCSI subsystem initialized. and nothing happen on screen. No OOPs messages, etc..; the kernel never gets to start init. It seems to hang a loop inside the kernel. use Alt + SysRQ + r and then Alt SysRQ + p to show register it print (if acpi is disabled) something like EIP is at default_idle+0x2f/0x40. If acpi is enabled it print acpi_default_idle (that one I did not remember literally)

The same machine runs the 2.6.29.5 kernel with vserver patch smoothly, and the default fedora kernel 2.6.29 as well. It is a fedora 11 system using ext4 (so no way to go back < .27 ). It is old pentium3 900Mhz with only 512 MB of ram with a 'old' nvidia graphic card.

Any idea how to debug this? I want to run openvz on that machine but the latest patch only available for 2.6.27.
