I have a node with 2 CTs.

- CT 136
  CentOS 5.2 (template centos-5-i386-default-5.2-20090117)
  using 1.8G.

- CT 143
  CentOS 4.7 (template centos-4-i386-minimal-4.7-20090117)
  using 2.7G.

When I make a vzdump --snapshot --dumpdir /home/backup --all
it runs without an error and creates 2 tar files:

vzdump-136.tar (1.5G) and vzdump-143.tar (10K).

This is the log file vzdump-136.log:

Feb 12 09:11:03 INFO: starting backup for VPS 136 (/vz/private/136)
Feb 12 09:11:03 INFO: creating lvm snapshot of /dev/mapper/system-vz ('/dev/system/vzsnap')
Feb 12 09:11:06 INFO: Logical volume "vzsnap" created
Feb 12 09:11:06 INFO: mounting lvm snapshot
Feb 12 09:11:06 INFO: Creating archive '/home/backup/vzdump-136.tar' (/vzsnap/private/136)

Feb 12 09:14:17 INFO: Logical volume "vzsnap" successfully removed
Feb 12 09:14:17 INFO: backup for VPS 136 finished successful (3.23 minutes)

This is the log file vzdump-143.log:

Feb 12 09:14:17 INFO: starting backup for VPS 143 (/var/lib/vz/private/143)
Feb 12 09:14:17 INFO: creating lvm snapshot of /dev/mapper/system-vz ('/dev/system/vzsnap')
Feb 12 09:14:17 INFO: Logical volume "vzsnap" created
Feb 12 09:14:17 INFO: mounting lvm snapshot
Feb 12 09:14:18 INFO: Creating archive '/home/backup/vzdump-143.tar' (/var/lib/vzsnap/private/143)
Feb 12 09:14:18 INFO: Total bytes written: 10240 (10KiB, 56MiB/s)
Feb 12 09:14:18 INFO: Logical volume "vzsnap" successfully removed
Feb 12 09:14:18 INFO: backup for VPS 143 finished successful (0.02 minutes)

Questions:

Why does vzdump create only a tarball of 10K for CT 143?

Does snapshot not work with CentOS 4 CTs?

My Node is an Ubuntu 8.04.1 server with kernel 2.6.24-23-openvz SMP on a 8GB RAM machine with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ CPU.
