Oh, and another thing to note. Compiling the kernel is really slow unless you take advantage of all of the threads, so to speed things up, use:

make -j 23

or you can leave the number off and it will try and run all of the compile jobs simlutaniously which is sorta fun to see, 3k or so processes running at the same time with a load average topping out at 600, but the system is still very responsive.
