I have a HN with 2 physical interfaces and I have a problem. Should I be able to communicate from the HN to the VE?

Hardware Node
-------------
eth0: public ip, but not currently connected to a switch (preping this box to go to the data center)

eth1: private ip 10.1.5.50/16, connected to a local lan with a NAT/Gateway on 10.1.1.220

venet0: doesn't show any ip

VE 101
------
venet0: 127.0.0.1

venet0:0 with 10.1.5.51/32

I can not ping the HN from the VE or the VE from the HN. Both the VE and the HN can communicate to any other machine on the local lan, both the VE and the HN can access the internet. Why can't the HN and the VE talk?

EDIT: I reduced the HN to just on interface, eth0 with 10.1.5.50 as an address. Still no communication between the HN and the VE.
