Hello,

as in my post: http://forum.openvz.org/index.php?t=tree&th=1030&mid =7635&&rev=&reveal=

I've got ACPI-related problems with both stable and test kernels.

Situation in brief:
- Machine is P4 dual core (630), motherboard Intel chipset 965
- No proper hw problems: everything works fine with a 2.6.18 vanilla kernel.

Problems:

Stable 2.6.9: doesn't even boot, totally freezing at boot doing ACPI interrupts startup sequence. Please note that this is not an OpenVZ bug, as this is the standard behaviour of vanilla 2.6.8,9 onto this hw.

Test 2.6.16: boots correctly but ACPI forces it to go single core. Also this is "normal".
930 Dual Core needs at least 2.6.17.

So, can someone please tell me if and when will be possible to run an OpenVZ kernel based on vanilla 2.6.17 or 2.6.18?
Is anyone able to give me a rough estimate of ETA?

Or. are there some patches backporting newer ACPI to stable or testing?
In your opinion, would it be feasible/useful to try to do similar patches or timeframe to have 2.6.17/18 is actually short?

Thank you in advance, bye.
