Hi Satish,
 
I noticed a clue at

After flushing the iptables with the -F flag, I was able to properly
connect to all machines and nslookup addresses, whereas like you I was
only able to ping some addresses and only by IP instead of name before.
 
I think when I setup the HN I replied "yes" to installing the firewall.
