Hi,

I am trying to install OpenVZ inside VirtualBox 4.1 on CentOS 6.0.

I have got CentOS installed and running, and enabled the OpenVZ 2.6.32 kernel in YUM. Installed the vzkernel and vzctl packages, disabled SELINUX and modified sysctl.conf.

On reboot the kernel panics early on with errors about partitions, devices, and disks, so I am guessing something wrong with the virtual disks.

Anyone tried this before?

Actually I always experienced issues with centos on VirtualBox - without openvz. Did you try vmware server (just for testing)?

Please use RHEL6 kernel, not plain 2.6.32

It turned out it was a bug with the cfq scheduler in the latest RHEL 6 OpenVZ kernel, they sorted it in the bugzilla quickly. Smile

042stab035.1 still panic (I think when starting the init.d, but its not sure) on vmware workstation 8 beta, but 042stab029.1 works fine, see the attachment.

Hi there,

the latest 2.6.32 RHEL6 kernel wont work. I get alway a Kernel-Panic... Inside a VMware ESXi Server or on a dedicated server.
I use Centos 5.6 but i need to use vSwap Wink

Is there any other way?

we are attempting to run the latest RHEL kernel vzkernel-2.6.32-042stab044.17.x86_64 inside of VMWare and are receiving ongoing kernel panic issues

Is this a vmware specific issue or a known issue with 042stab044.17?
