service vz start, command not found centOS 5.5 [message #41096]

I have installed openvz and tools, trying to start service as next step but it is bringing back that there is no command.

service vz start
bash: service: command not found

suggestions?

when you su to root, ensure you use the command:
# su -

the dash indicates you want to configure your environment for root (and thus its search paths), otherwise, you keep your user account environment configuration, which does not include /sbin.

Another option would be to point to the service executable directory with:

# /sbin/service

Tyr to start the service with the command as :

/etc/init.d/vz start
