VPS as iscsi-target? [message #4721]

Hi all,

has anyone ever tried to use a VPS as an iscsi-target? Up to know, I have Linux only used as iscsi initiator. I'm aware of http://iscsitarget.sourceforge.net/ and there is a note that it needs a kernel version of 2.6.14 or later. So maybe there is a way to get a VPS acting as iscsi-target with the openvz development kernel 2.6.16?

Any ideas if this can work? Has someone successfully tried this?

There is one problem with iSCSI-target in VE on my mind.
Every time the target is added a kernel thread is created,
and this is prohibited inside VE for security reasons...

You can modify kernel a bit to allow kernel threads in VE
and try to use iSCSI-target then.

Thanks for the information. Is it actually necessary to modify the kernel itself, and re-compile it, or is it also possible to active some Linux capabilities for that?
