Is it wise to host the professional services on the openvz VPS than bare OS running on the node.
Traditional structure:
Hardware > Operating system (centos etc)> Control panel (Cpanel/plesk etc)
Now problem is if the node gets hack or system files are corrupted than node is down. Wait for datacenter to check unless KVM is connected to the server. For backup if bare metal software installed on the node than it's easy to restore. But it's going to be more expensive.
Virtualize mode :
Hardware > Operating system (centos etc) > Openvz > Control panel (cpanel/plesk etc)
Advantate: Clone of the vps can be done on daily basis and if something goes wrong we can switch to the last backup of the node.
Now question is that if there is any performance difference between hosting accounts running on the node without openvz and with openvz? As openvz use the same kernel there is no need to emulate additional abstraction layer for the hardware and BIOS like vmware etc.
can we make vps of 500gb or 1Tb and host domains in the vps?
Will there be any performance issue , lag or limitation openvz to see the hardware RAM/CPU/hard disk or network resources?
Anyone suggest doing this or just run the shared hosting on the dedicated server without openvz?
Thanks
