Hello!

If i start vzctl create it is extremely slow because tar and gzip for decompressing the image do not use the cpu power. They mostly uses only about 0.03%-10% CPU...

tar.gz Image: 140MB
Decompressing with vzctl takes about: 4minutes

And what about (tar+gz) without vzctl? Does it work rapid?...
Hmmm... I actually don't think the reason is in tar.
Can you, please, strace vzctl:

strace -tt -T -ff -o str.out vzctl create 200

mhm tody tar xfz needs 7 seconds and vzctl create needs 28 seconds - i think this difference is normal isn't it?

I don't know thy it takes 4min yesterday...

From my experience "vzctl create .." is limited by the disk i/o speed. What is your disk configuration? such as disk type, speed, raid config, etc.

The difference between using one 7200rpm IDE for /vz and several 10k SCSI Raid-10 is enormous.

Paste us the output of:
iostat -k 5

(let it run for a minute in a seperate shell while vzctl create is running)

this difference was due to some very non-optimal code in disk quota. it was optimized in recent released kernel and vzctl create
should be much closer to tar now.
