Hey guys,

I need some advice from you. Im planning to do daily backups of all my virtual machine which contain mostly apache2 servers. I got one mysql server, one squid and a mail server.. so making daily backups would be useful in case something breaks down or a customers accident ly deletes something...

My question: is the only way to do backups with vz-dump? What if i run duplicity over my /vz/private and /vz/root directory? Will this simply work out? Or will i face some problems if I do so?

I know that consistency isn't guaranteed if the machine is running and im backing up files out of it, but that wouldn't be a great problem, cause the only thing that has to be consistent would be the mysql tables, which I dump with mysqlbackup.
