Maby someone has tried...? All distos in virtual enviroment use the same kernel.
So if I just make a tar.gz of "/" dir some-cool-distro.tar.gz, move it to /vz/template/cache/ ant try to make:
vzctl create 666 --ostemplate some-cool-distro --config vps.basic

would that work? Could I use this stuff like vps is was created from templates?

yes that would work, but you need some modifications in template:

* disable getty
* disable some services like klogd
* make symlink from /proc/mounts to /etc/mtab
* remove ssh host keys, and regenerate it at first boot
etc

you can read all about it in wiki http://wiki.openvz.org/Category:Templates
