Hi folks,
due to the new release of a 'cool' scripting language (RoR) I would like setup the following VE's:
one HW-node, one web-server running Apache, and one server for Ruby on Rails.
My Problem is how to forward the traffic on port 3000-3010 from the webserver to the rails server? (The proxying inside the apache is no problem.)
I found iptables snippets for forwarding the traffic from and to the HW-node and the rails server. But how is it possible to forward the traffic from the web to the rails server and back again(both are VE's)
Any help is appreciated
Greetings, Joker

Hi,
If I understand you right, you won't need any iptables for this.
Both VEs have their own IP addresses.
The apache VE is just able to access the RoR-machine by it's address, even if that's just a private one.
All VE traffic goes through the hardware node which will take care of routing.
If all of your VE's IPs are private ones, you still can do a "port forwarding" from the hwnode to the apache-VE.
greetings,
Hubert
