When I run iostat inside a VPS I just get CPU stats, is it possible to run iostat in a VPS?

[root@webmail /]# iostat -x 5
Linux 2.6.9-023stab044.11-smp (webmail.mydomain.com) 01/04/08

avg-cpu: %user %nice %sys %iowait %idle
6.04 0.00 0.94 0.02 93.00

Device: rrqm/s wrqm/s r/s w/s rsec/s wsec/s rkB/s wkB/s avgrq-sz avgqu-sz await svctm %util

avg-cpu: %user %nice %sys %iowait %idle

Device: rrqm/s wrqm/s r/s w/s rsec/s wsec/s rkB/s wkB/s avgrq-sz avgqu-sz await svctm %util

Hi,

1. I'm afraid that you cannot use iostat inside a VPS:
- It is not clear what we need to show because VPS doesn't bind to any device.
- There is some restrictions associated with the VPS access to devices.

2. Can you please tell us what information do you expect to observe inside VPS?
3. You can use 'vmstat' (inside VPS) instead of 'iostat'. May be it will be suitable for you?

Thank You!
