I've been comparing two of my servers which have very different loads. I migrated all VPS's from both servers and one still has a load of 1.0 and the other is 0. The only difference I see is that one server is running a process called 'vzwdog' which is taking up a lot of CPU time.

Both servers have VZWDOG="no" in the vz.conf. What is this process and why is it running?

vzwdog is debug module, it collects some useful information and outputs it to system log. Obviously somebody has loaded it by hands.

However it is not related to load average -- vzwdog wakeups each minute and should not eat too many CPU.

thank you,
