Once in a while, I get this error from my vzdump backup cron job:

ERRORS during backup - backup FAILED!

starting backup for VPS 109 (/data/vz/private/109) Tue Jun 19 04:07:33 2007
starting first sync /data/vz/private/109 to /data/vz/dump//tmp2793
suspend vps
Setting up checkpoint...
Error: No checkpointing support, unable to open /proc/cpt: No such file or directory
creating backup for VPS 109 failed (2.33 minutes): command '/usr/sbin/vzctl chkpnt 109 --suspend' failed with exit code 16 at /usr/bin/vzdump line 107.

Then if I do a 'service vz restart', it works again.

Well, nothing strange. The command `service vz restart` loads required kernel modules and checkpointing starts working.

HTH,
Vasily.

Ok, but why does it stop working then? The modules unloaded themselves?

AFAIK the modules unload on `service vz stop` command, that is called, for example, on the node reboot.

Vasily.

Probably you have peformed `service vz stop` manually?..
Anyway, you should somehow find out what unloads the required kernel modules Wink

Vasily.
