I regularly get messages like this in my syslog:
Quote: | Jun 9 23:59:04 toucan kernel: Uncharging too much 428 h 252, res othersockbuf ub 0
Jun 9 23:59:04 toucan kernel: Uncharging too much 508 h 0, res othersockbuf ub 0
Jun 9 23:59:04 toucan kernel: Uncharging too much 684 h 0, res othersockbuf ub 0
|
I've searched the forum, google etc, and found out it would be nothing bad, but it means there is some discrepancy in the ub counters? Is it a bug or something, or is it expected to see these message (everything is 100% OK?)
I'm not doing anything in particular when getting those messages, they just appear now and then. All those messages refer to othersockbuf.

Hello, these messages are not danger, but however they indicate, that there is a bug in othersockbuf accounting. Can you, please, fill the bug report at http://bugzilla.openvz.org. In bug report, please, describe your environment: architecture, kernel (have you compiled it yourself? If yes - attach the config), which distribution do you use on host and in VE? The config files for your VEs.
Thank you,
Vasily.

Sorry! When I was reading your message first time, I thought, that you're using 028stab031 kernel. So I look through the fixes, that were applied since 028stab031 and haven't found anything fixing othersockbuf. Consequently I assumed that it is a new bug.
But now I understand, that you're using Debian OpenVZ kernel based on 028test018. It is pretty old kernel and there were pretty much fixes since it.
So, can you, please, update your system till the latest kernel (028stab035). Compile the new kernel by yourself or use precompiled kernel from debian.systs.org.
Also we're going to release the fresh patch against Debian kernel soon.
I close the bug http://bugzilla.openvz.org/show_bug.cgi?id=619, that you have reported, as fixed. If the problem will arise again on latest kernel - feel free to reopen it.
Thank you,
Vasily.
