Hi,

I tried something very resource-consuming yesterday in a VE and it crashed the server. It was just a test so there is nothing really wrong and the server is now back up, but on the console, when it crashed, I could see that there looked like the process that caused the crash was mysql on VE 106. That makes a lot of sense... it that logged somewhere, so that I can analyse more of the crash message?

Hello, if the crash was not fatal, you can see it at /var/log/messages. If it was fatal you should set up a serial console or net console on you node (http://wiki.openvz.org/Remote_console_setup)

If instead I setup a remote syslog system will syslog have time to send the data before the server stops responding?

Unfortunately, no. Only remote console will be able to receive all the messages from the kernel till the very "death" of the node.
