Hi all!

I am working on an OpenVZ web interface, so that customers can register with me and have a schweet interface to manage their virtual machines.

It is almost complete, so I thought I might start some interest in my project by sneaking in some screen shots.

Note: it will be free, I am just unsure on the licensing etc.

Very interesting!

I suggest you to add the information about your project to http://wiki.openvz.org/Control_panels. To my mind, the best licence would be GNU GPL.

Hi,

I am quite interested in this software as HyperVM is INCREDIBLY expensive for what it is.

If you need help developing it please contact me, do you have any dates for this?

What language are you writing this in?

I am going to start looking over the code today, expect the first svn commits soon.

RoboVZ is coming along nicely, and before I was just about to SVN up my code, I thought that I would ditch what I had and recode it all. The new version is starting to become functional, here is a screenshot of it, more info when it is released in a few days Smile

Let's just say that the panel is *very* functional, and the application even more so. It is controlled by a server, that unfortunatly has to run as root, this server basically acts as a frontend to vzctrl.

RoboVZ has a very complex template system in there, and because I did not want to do anything like add Paypal *just* yet, I thought I would just put in a wallet, where admins put in points, and a VPS will cost X amount of points a month, week, or day.

As I said, more soon!

I got even better news for you Smile

I told you I would show you more. In this screenshot, you can see one of my VE's, running with the ID "100".

Down below the Webbrowser window is the RoboVZ daemon, showing the client's data that it is sending. There are better features coming, however Smile

This should give you a taste for things to come. Just make a symlink from where you extract these files in /var/www (call it robovz for easy install) and copy the apache2-include.conf file to Apache2's include folder (Debian's is /etc/apache2/sites-available)

Make sure you import the two SQL dumps, and create two user accounts, one with the username and password of likah, and the other one with the username and password of robovz.

Run this command in the directory RoboVZ was extracted to:
tim@timg.ws:~/RoboVZ/# sudo php server.php

The Likah server __MUST__ be ran as root, otherwise it does not get access to OpenVZ's infomation, and cannot stop and start machines.

[ Note: this is the reduced version. Watch this spot Smile ]

If you have any ideas, please, pretty please share them. Also, if in the future someone would like to put in something like Paypal, I would really like it if you could share the code with me Wink

so which software needs to be installed on the server for this to run?

php, mysql and apache is pretty obvious but anything else?

and can you explain that "admin points" again I dont understand what they do Embarassed

Well, at the moment, there is only basic finance management, and what is there I would not really recommend for production use. Forget about what I said earlier with the points, I was just ranting Smile

Yes! There is a pile!

The project is now being located at my own Google Code-like system called ShareSource (available at http://sharesource.org), where the project is still called 'RoboVZ'. Watch out soon: when I get a few spare hours I will prepair the first release.

I don't think so... just go to http://sharesource.org/project/robovz and you will find code in the svn trunk, but last commit is 2 Sep 2007, so it looks a bit stale at the moment. Remember though, this is open source and apparently no one involved have had time to work on this lately.

So you either have to be patient or step up Rolling Eyes

Stress less. I have been working hard on the new version of RoboVZ. It now has a backend based on a research project I did, MyInfo. Based on JSON-RPC, this system will enable scalability to the highest degree!

Not only that, but there is also integrated billing in RoboVZ. Screenshots shall follow.

I've marked this vaporware product as frozen in the wiki under control panels. There's nothing there except pictures. If it ever becomes a product I'll add it again to the wiki. I'm posting this just in case anyone is monitoring this thread looking for control panels.

I started a web interface for OpenVZ sometime backand never finished it
It was actually a GUI frontend for a terminal console script I wrote called VEmin
I gave up the work on the web interface to concentrate my efforts
time wiling towards a GUI based on QT similar to VMwares Console
I will apologize for my postings lack of proper periods and commas as my keyboard has seem to take a break from work on its own
Go figure its a goofy GATEWAY
Ranks right up there with COMPAQ
