Ok never had any issues with ensim on a typical server.
But having hell with it on the centos 4.2 template.
I know folks who have it running on a VZ 2.6 system just fine.
My ve has no /proc/devices
But the ve on the VZ server does have a /proc/devices and i'm not sure exactly what i'm missing here.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I think this is rather an Ensim issue that an OpenVZ issue. We could make a kernel provide (empty) /proc/devices file inside a VPS, but I'm not sure if this will help since the next issue Ensim will complain about would be that the file is empty.
Can you try (or have you tried) contacting Ensim folks regarding your problem? If it works on VZ 2.6 that means they probably have some check that tells this is a VPS and some stuff is skipped (or done alternatevely) in this case.
