I;m not able to install vzpkgcache on 64 bit systems due to a dependency error. But I'm wondering if I can run it on a 32 bit OS and create templates that I can move to a 64 bit system and run? Can I make 86 bit templates this way?

Can I install the vzpkgcache utility inside a VE for the purpose of creating templates?

This is known problem. Unfortunately you should not use vzpkgcache on 64 bit systems, but use precreated templates.

Yes, you can do it.

Hmmm.... I can't say exactly, but I feel that the answer is "no" Smile

For some reason I haven't been able to modify the template config files to get them to compile up a 64 bit os using vzpkgcache. Not quite sure what I'm doing wrong.

So - how do you create a 64 bit template without using vzpkgcache?

AFAIK by hand, i.e. by installing RPM packages in non-root directory
(e.g. /tmp/future_64bit_template) and then compressing this directory
in .tar.gz archive. Probably some small modifications are done inside
future template in order it to work completely as expected.

I guess, you can find some additinal information at wiki in
articles, concerning template creation of non-RPM distributions.

Yeah, but it's the list of the "small modifications" that are causing me some confusion.
