Hello.

I am last-year student of the National Mining University of Ukraine, Informational Technologies faculty.
I develop graduation thesis work, using virtualization technology.
At this time the question of substantiation of using virtualization technologies expedience arose.

Probably I need to produce (or adopt existing) server testing methods, then compare result of common linux system tests to the result of virtualized one tests.

It isn't a problem to test both systems with NetBench, dbench etc. (which would test file-server and web-server).
The problem is to test restoration-after-failure time, migration parameters and to consolidate all of these tests in the one whole system.
I think that parameters such as restoration-after-failure time are ought to be included because of virtual servers' advantage in this field.

I thought that some testing have been done while developing OpenVZ.
I would be very much obliged to the one who would tell me about existing testing methods and systems or about the concepts of such systems.

Thank you.
Dmitrii.
