Hi,

in OpenVZ 7 transparent hugepages are enabled by default.

(root@vz7)/sys:cat ./kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled
[always] madvise never
(root@vz7)/sys:uname -a
Linux <hostname> 3.10.0-957.10.1.vz7.85.16 #1 SMP Tue Apr 9 15:57:50 MSK 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

kernel config:
CONFIG_TRANSPARENT_HUGEPAGE=y
CONFIG_TRANSPARENT_HUGEPAGE_ALWAYS=y

[root@day sys]# cat ./kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled
always madvise [never]
[root@day sys]# uname -a
Linux <hostname> 2.6.32-042stab134.8 #1 SMP Fri Dec 7 17:16:09 MSK 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

So, the things remain the same.
AFAIK, you can enable them and node should not crash instantly after that. Smile
But as it's not a default configuration, it's not that widely tested by number of installations.

If i were you and i need hugepages for some reason, i'd upgrade to OpenVZ 7 -
you've got a good reason now. Smile
