Restore process should be like this:
- Create new container (or use same CTID if it's not already registered in system) and make sure it's stopped
- Copy in ploop file, replacing blank/existing (assuming it was snapshot properly prior to backup as described in wiki link you supplied)
- Start container
That typically does the trick.
Worst case if there's issues with that, you can create the new container, stop it, mount its ploop, mount the backup ploop and rsync the data over between the mounts.
