The Ploop/Backup Howto seems to be the way to go with OpenVZ 7. Both described scripts do not work.

I created the vzbackup script as described for the image based Backup. But there is an error with the vzctl option --skip-suspend (this option does not exist).

When I run this script, I get a backup folder of 14G with this content:

 1,2K 13. Jan 17:33 DiskDescriptor.xml
    0 13. Jan 17:33 DiskDescriptor.xml.lck
 4,2G 13. Jan 17:33 root.hds
 9,7G 13. Jan 17:36 root.hds.{4a9b7ba2-fd1f-454f-9bc4-4eab27534dff}

The directory /vz/private/$ctid is 15G and contains some subdirectories.

Now: How can I restore such an image based backup?

Additionally: Is it true that I can simply stop a container and copy the content of the /vz/private/$ctid/ folder to make a backup? Would this work?

Does anybody have a fixed version of these backup scripts? Or a working Howto?
