Safe to install kernel and linux-firmware inside container? [message #51777]

I would like to install fail2ban using yum on my CentOS 7 VPSs, but it requires ipset which requires kernel which requires linux-firmware. Is it safe to install kernel and linux-firmware inside a VPS?

I bought an extra VPS just to test this. Allowing those two packages to install inside it does not appear to have broken anything. I also figured out that different repos package fail2ban with different prerequisites. While the fail2ban in epel requires ipset the one in rpmforge does not.
