It's quite an old thread you've resurrected here and I'm sure this question has been addressed numerous times before... Anyway, you can't insert a kernel module within a VE.

What you can do is insert it on a HN and use it inside a VE. Since original poster mentions it would be used to access external devices, I should point out that one might require additional steps and workarounds to achieve this.
