Hello

I have just installed openvz inside a vmware client. It works well except that it is very slow. It took me 4 minutes to do vzctl create 50. It spent that time running tar

I think this is a vmware speed problem rather than a openvz/tar problem.

I suspect that Xen is a lot faster than vmware. I was wondering if it was possible to create an openvz system inside a Xen vps.
Could I just install a vzkernel and reboot into a Xen/Openvz modified client?
Or does the hosting provider have to install a special kernel?
Or is this impossible at the moment.?

I am trying to do this because I have worked with openvz on my computers for a long time and I am used to the benefits .

thank you

peter

I've run openvz inside a virtualbox client, didn't see any noticable slowdown.

No special kernel necessary, just the standard openvz kernel.
