I see where OpenVZ dev said
Quote:

Timers are totally messed in 2.6.16

And it seems Debian devs are planning to use 2.6.18 for etch.

So I was wondering if OpenVZ will rebase to 2.6.18 for -test kernel.

This work is already started. A short time after Linus will release 2.6.18, we will release OpenVZ devel kernel based on 2.6.18.

PS I am not sure about timers though....

OK, thanks for the info, Kir.

I will wait for 2.6.18, before trying any more test kernels.

Well, it looks like the "stab" branch just merged with the RHEL4 branch, so I'm guessing no time soon.

The real wild card here for me is the Xen patches that are in RHEL5. Can Xen and OpenVZ coexist? If so, the current beta of RHEL5 uses 2.6.17 although I guess there is a chance that it will move to 2.6.18 for the final release. If that happens, I assume that that will become the "stab" branch. If it doesn't, it'll probably be the 2.6.17 release currently used by RHEL5. Meanwhile, the "test" release will probably keep moving with the vanilla kernel versions.

Hello everybody, this is my first post here.

What about moving devel tree at least to 2.6.17, if not 2.6.18?
Does anybody know if this is on-going, ETA, etc.?

I'm encounting ACPI issues with 2.6.16 and dual core CPU, solved in 2.6.17.

Thanks, bye
