Hi,

we are running Virtuozzo 7 (3.10.0-514.26.1.vz7.33.22) in our environment.

In the past we set the DCACHESIZE in OpenVZ 6 to
limit the usage of the dentry/inode cache.

We did this because we had some issues with growing
dcaches causing OOM's on the machine.

In Virtuozzo we see that the dcache is growing again
but we are not able to limit it because there ist no option
in vzctl or prlctl any more.

How can i limit the dcachesize again?

Regards Hans

Hi Hans,

kernel memory management must handle caches properly - both pagecache and dcache,
it became much smarter in VZ7 so we do not expect problems now.

All free RAM should be used for caches - pagecache/dcache and kernel must balance them correctly.

If you see any problems on a VZ7 and highly suspect it's due to incorrect dcache size management, please file a bug, we'll investigate it.

Since Virtuozzo 7 RRTM we had a single issue with dcache incorrect shrinking and no known issues at the moment.

Hope that helps.

If your problem is solved - please, report it!
It's even more important than reporting the problem itself...
