[root@ds00209 ~]# rpm -e ovzkernel vzctl vzquota vzpkg vztmpl-fedora-core-4 vztmpl-centos-4 vztmpl-fedora-core-3
[root@ds00209 ~]# rm -rf /vz/

I had to do that to solve dependancies... should anything else remain?

Do something like
# rpm -qa | grep vz
These packages are most probably owned by OpenVZ.

I guess, that
vzctl-lib, vzyum, vzrpm43, vzrpm44 packages
are not mentioned in the posts above, but
should be removed.

Correct, I had to enter

rpm -e vzyum vzrpm44-python vzrpm44 vzrpm43-python vzctl-lib vzrpm43

to remove all further packages.

isn't hypervm a commercially supported software product?

based on the error, yum is running or yum thinks it is. killall yum.
