Hello guys.

I can't update to last vzctl.
When I am doing yum update command it writes:

Error: Missing Dependency: vzeventmod is needed by package vzctl

I have been told that vzeventmod is in latest kernel. My kernel is
2.6.9-023stab053.2-enterprise(latest one in repo). System - CentOS 4.9.
Does anyone familar with this situation?

Regards
Anton

Yes, I am also experiencing this problem. It was originally reported back in
March. Here is the bug report:

http://bugzilla.openvz.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1796

I have not heard anything about it since then. I assume they are working on it.

Thanks for reply.
So will wait for kernel update. It is not too critical, so for now "yum
update --exclude=vzctl\*" is the solution.

Regards
Anton

1. I recommend anyone using RHEL4-based OpenVZ kernel to switch to RHEL5
or even RHEL6.

2. Just for the reference, there is about about this issue:
http://bugzilla.openvz.org/1796
You can add yourself into Cc: list for this bug to track its progress
(if any).

It's more or less difficult task to move to rhel5 because of
application and software dependencies.

for example my client have server in DC (there is long procedure to
enter to DC), there runs online shop and it written for php4. so to
move this to rhel5 application must by adapted to php5, then i will
have to test everything and than try to move with as less as possible
downtime.

that's very long way, and we plan to do so in 1 year.

to move to rhel5/rhel6 is very good idea because rhel4 support ends in
2012-02-29
and of course rhel6 is best approach because rhel5 support ends in 2014-03-31

Do you imply that you run this php4 app on the host system, not inside a
container? Then move it to container and upgrade the host system. RHEL5 and
-6 based OpenVZ kernels run rhel4 containers just fine.
