Hi all,

I bought a new server as below:

Kernel: ovzkernel-2.6.18-238.5.1.el5.028stab085.3.x86_64.rpm
OS: RHEL 5.6 64bit
CPU: CORE I3-2120
Mainboard: Intel DH61WW
RAM: Kingston KVR1333D3N9/2G x 2
RAID Card: tested on both 3ware 9650SE and 3ware 8006
Firmware: FE9X 4.10.00.007
Driver: 2.26.08.007-2.6.18RH


After the server runs for several days, it crashed which similar to this post: forum.openvz.org/index.php?t=msg&goto=29239&

I know providing netconsole would help to locate the problem, here it is, please kindly help and advise how to solve the problem:

Just a update that adding noapic does not help........exact error occured.

Is there anyone help?

just tested that if I run the RHEL original kernel, there is no any problem for 7 days


And confirmed that with openvz kernel, even adding "noapic all-generic-ide acpi=off pci=nommconf" does not help.

any one help or advise is appreciated

i can't really help u solve your problem, I can just tell u that I experienced problems with the 9650SE over two years ago with a 2.6.18 kernel and then switched to the 'unstable' 2.6.22 which works like a charm:
user@host:~$ uname -rvm
2.6.22-ovz005 #1 SMP Wed Feb 6 09:55:43 CET 2008 i686
user@host:~$ uptime
 16:57:42 up 853 days, 10:36,  2 users,  load average: 0.00, 0.08, 0.09

try RHEL6 (or CentOS) which comes with a much newer kernel...

The Stig,

Thank you very much for your help.

I tested with RHEL6 and 2.6.32-042test011.1.x86_64 since 4 May 2011, the server does not occur any problem.

Since RHEL5 is not compatible with 3ware RAID card, I think I will use this kernel for production, if any problem persists I will update this post.
