Hi All:

I have just created a new RHEL 6 container, and can start it and enter it, but it only starts 1 process:

$ vzctl exec 6010 "ps -eaf"
UID PID PPID C STIME TTY TIME CMD
root 1 0 0 08:51 ? 00:00:00 init
root 9890 1 0 08:59 ? 00:00:00 ps -eaf

Any suggestions on what might be wrong? Here are some further details:

Contents of /vz/private/6010/etc/inittab
(mostly comments, and then the line)
id:3:initdefault:

the host is running:
$ uname -a
Linux lss-build78.ih.lucent.com 2.6.18-194.17.1.el5.028stab070.7 #1 SMP Fri Oct 1 14:17:14 MSD 2010 x86_64

I loosely followed the instructions to create the template from:
http://wiki.openvz.org/Creating_a_CentOS_5.0_Template

thanks,

Paul

Followup, in case anyone else runs into this problem.

I was able to get it working late last night. I now have a rhel 6 container working on:

vzquota-3.0.12-1
vzctl-lib-3.0.24.2-1
vzctl-3.0.24.2-1
ovzkernel-2.6.18-194.17.1.el5.028stab070.7

I even have NFS (as a client) and autofs working in this arrangement. Basically, I needed to follow what others have seen for Fedora 14 ( http://forum.openvz.org/index.php?t=msg&th=9578&star t=0&), by commenting out the line with "console output" in /etc/init/rc.conf and /etc/init/rcS.conf. C

regards,

Paul

I was getting high CPU load after a few hours on my RHEL6 template? Caused by Mgetty which I guess should not be running in the first place. I figured out that I needed to delete or rename /etc/init/tty.conf and /etc/init/start-ttys.conf.
