Greetings OpenVZ heads,

I had my newly created OpenVZ box kernel panic this morning after a good week of stability. I'm not totally familiar with the inner workings of OpenVZ so I'm pretty stumped as to what could have caused this. It has 3 guests, they're basically unloaded aside from testing, which wasn't going on at the time the host crashed.

CTID NPROC STATUS IP_ADDR HOSTNAME
1 11 running 172.16.0.210 db.dev
2 20 running 172.16.0.212 live.dev
3 108 running 172.16.0.211 dynamic.dev

Attached is a KVM screenshot of the kernel panic screen, ignore the dev-xen title on the KVM node, that needs to be changed Smile

The following was written to syslog before it died:

Feb 26 08:40:02 dev-vm kernel: swap_free: Unused swap offset entry 00000004
Feb 26 08:40:38 dev-vm last message repeated 23 times
Feb 26 08:40:47 dev-vm last message repeated 8 times
Feb 26 08:40:47 dev-vm kernel: mm/memory.c:126: bad pmd ffff81002907d318(000000000d77c467).
Feb 26 08:40:47 dev-vm kernel: mm/memory.c:126: bad pmd ffff81002907d3d8(000000006a46a467).

All my version information:
RHEL 5.3, up to date, vz packages:
ovzkernel-2.6.18-92.1.18.el5.028stab060.2.x86_64
vzctl-lib-3.0.23-1.x86_64
vzctl-3.0.23-1.x86_64

Cheers and thanks for any insight in advance,

Nick
