we have one server in which we are running appx 25 VPS's the total disk usage is appx 200GB including all vps data and OS installation.
When we reboot server it takes upto 1 hour to start all vps's.
I was wondering why it takes so much time to start?
Is it possible that all vps's starts at the same time rather then one by one?
How can we make all the VPS's start in few minutes? Does it need more CPU or RAM or CPU+RAM?
Right now its Quad core 2.4ghz cpu and 8gig RAM. If we increase RAM to 16gig will it make difference?

Thanks

First of all - what do you mean by "reboot"? Is it a emergency reboot with a reset button (power cord unplug) or regular reboot command?

In the former case - do you see "Stopping container XXX" strings during shutdown process?

Well your problem its while starting or while stoping? a reboot process means stop then start so if your problem its at the stop moment then you could have a lot of memory problems, I noticed that when a VE have failcn who have something to do with the memory manage, it can take a lot of time to stop a VE.

When we reboot it takes upto 1 hour. All the VPS starts one by one and this process takes 1 hour.
Only 20VPS running and only 200gig of total disk used.
None of the VPS is having failcnt in beancounter.
I just want to know if we double the CPU and RAM will the time taken in the process of restarting VPS will reduce?

Thanks

Even if you increase your ram or your CPU power that is not the solution, you needs to debug the problem, increase your vzctl login level and try to restart to see the output in the logs.
