Hey guys,

I tried installing the OpenVZ Kernel for Debian Lenny: fzakernel-2.6.24-amd64 (2.6.24+ovz004.1dso6)

After booting the server, it had no network connection because the bnx2 module wasn't loaded: it's missing. The Version 2.6.18-12-fza-amd64 of the OpenVZ kernel works fine and has the bnx2 module with it.

I have the bnx2 firmware installed because this one was removed from the debian kernel, but the driver for bnx2 was available.

Why is support for the bnx2 driver missing in the 2.6.24 kernel? Will it come in later releases?

Thanks in advance and best regards.

Tobi

Hi,

I'm afraid it's not an OpenVZ specific problem.
Please look at this page (Hardware-specific Notes):

Thanks for your reply,

I know that debian removed the firmware from the kernel, but not the module. I have the firmware installed but there isn't even a module to load.

I'll take a look what to do. Eventually I have to stay on 2.6.18.

Thanks.
