We're using Debian kernel 2.6.18-fza-028stab053.5-686

When we compare local disk write performance between HN and VE, we can notice 40% performance less in the last case.

Test :

//from HN

# time yes "Bonjour ici les bidibules"> /var/lib/vz/private/105/tmp
gives 4 472 987 lines/seconds

// from VE
# vzctl enter 105
# time yes "Bonjour ici les bidibules"> /tmp
gives 2 656 845 lines/seconds

Inside the same VE NFS write performance is better than local disk access (3 648 706 lines/s) !!

An idea ?

Hello,

could you possibly explain in more detail how did you measure that speed and how many experiments did you conduct?

Thank You!

That is more like a cpu test. Do this:

time head --bytes=1000m /dev/zero > OUT

You are right, our tests where more cpu oriented than IO.
We tested with the last command, and found same results between HN and VE. And this time nfs test is 10 times slower than local disks : sounds better !

Thanks for your help.
