Hi,

whenever I try to start syslog with /etc/init.d/syslog start, I get the following error:
Starting syslog servicesstartproc: cannot stat /proc/<PID>/exe: Permission denied
Nevertheless, syslog starts, but the pid isn't the same.

Sometimes, there is no issue.

I've found a workaround in the mailing list, but don't get what Kirill mean:
"As a temporary workaround you can simply drop this check in your kernel for some time until we fixed it."

Which check and in which file? Did he mean ptrace.c from the kernel?

Best greets,
Gregor
