Hi there,

My question is: Is it possible to know the name of the host OS (VE0) directly from a VE?

Thanx in advance,

JMElyn.

I would like to know ${HOSTNAME} of VE0. This is not so static as a VE can migrate from a HN to another one.

You can't know the hostname. You can know host system IP though if you run traceroute/tracepath to some remote IP, as every packet goes through host system.

So the command:

traceroute aComputer | awk '/^ 1 / {print $2}'

will give me the name of the host! That's finally rather simple Smile
Thank you Kir!
